The Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Boukadoum, affirmed that his country supports a peaceful solution in Libya and wishes to achieve this, while the European Union’s delegate to Libya said that the political track is important to achieving stability.

In a joint press conference held today, Tuesday, with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlut Cavusoglu, in the capital, Ankara, the Algerian Foreign Minister indicated that there are common values ​​between Algeria and Libya, adding, "We strongly support a peaceful solution in Libya and we want to achieve this."

Boukadoum expressed his confidence in the ability of Turkey and Algeria to find solutions to the existing crises in Libya through joint action.

He stressed the possibility of finding solutions to the problems in Libya, with the support of the international community, expressing his country's readiness to provide all forms of support necessary for this.

Berlin Path

For his part, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell visited Libya, during which he met with the Head of the Government of National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj.

In a tweet he posted on his Twitter account, Borrell said that he met Sarraj and members of his government in the capital, Tripoli.

Discussed ways forward to advance political process, to return to 5 + 5 military committee talks, and to lift oil blockade.

EU strongly supports Berlin process, mediation efforts and deescalation measures, including arms embargo - key elements to bring Libyan conflict to an end.

He added that Libya is of the utmost importance to the European Union, welcoming the recent ceasefire agreement concluded on August 21 last, between the Presidential Council of the Libyan government and the Tobruk Parliament (east) that supports Khalifa Haftar.

Borrell confirmed the European Union's support for the dialogue and the political solution led by the Libyans, noting that during his talks in Libya, he discussed how to move forward on the political track and return to the 5 + 5 military committee, and lift the oil blockade.

Borrell also stressed the European Union's support for the Berlin process on the solution in Libya.
