We must expect more bankruptcies "in the coming months", warned the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire on Saturday, while assuring that the government would do "more than anything" to find solutions for businesses by difficulty.
"Will there be more bankruptcies in the coming months than there usually are? Yes. Usually there are 50,000 bankruptcies on average per year, there will probably be more in the coming months ", anticipated the Minister of the Economy on France Inter.
Mr. Le Maire, however, assured that the government would do "more than anything" to "avoid these bankruptcies and find solutions", citing in particular the brand of women's ready-to-wear Camaïeu, placed in receivership at the end of May and which has was taken over in mid-August by the investment fund Financière immobilière bordelaise.
Mr. Le Maire also mentioned the case of the glassmaker Arc International, located in Pas-de-Calais, assuring that the State could once again come to his aid. At the end of April, the state had already granted a loan of 31 million euros to this group specializing in tableware, which has been in difficulty for years.
"They need new money? We put 30 million euros. They are going to need more money probably? Well we will put more money", argued Mr. Le Maire.
More generally, "we will do our utmost to save everyone. I am not saying that we will have results which will allow us to avoid all bankruptcies," admitted the Minister.
