Regarding the measures against the border of the new coronavirus, the government has relaxed some restrictions from next month, and has established a policy to allow foreign nationals with a status of residence to re-enter Japan on condition that PCR tests are performed.

As a measure against the borderline of the new coronavirus, the government has refused to allow foreign nationals from 146 countries and regions to enter the country, and with the exception of some foreign nationals such as permanent residents and international students who have status of residence, Re-entry is not permitted if you leave Japan without "special circumstances" such as a funeral or childbirth.

Against this background, the government has received many opinions asking for relaxation of restrictions with the resumption of socio-economic activities. From next month, foreign nationals with a status of residence will leave Japan without "special circumstances". Even so, we have established a policy that allows re-entry.

When re-entering Japan, we are proceeding with adjustments such as implementing virus tests such as PCR tests and waiting 14 days at hotels, just as we do for Japanese people.

There are approximately 2.6 million foreign nationals with a status of residence, and the government will set up an inspection system at three airports, such as Narita Airport, within one month during the next month to accommodate the increase in traffic due to the relaxation of restrictions. We are planning to expand to the scale of 10,000 people.
