For the third consecutive night, the Israeli occupation army bombed Palestinian resistance and civilian sites in Gaza, wounding two civilians, and the renewed bombing came under the pretext of responding to launching incendiary balloons towards settlements.

The Israeli occupation army said that fighter jets, helicopters and tanks targeted military sites of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), including a naval defense system, underground infrastructure and observation posts.

He added that the bombing was in response to the continued launching of incendiary balloons towards the settlements of the Gaza envelope, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had threatened a few days ago with a harsh response if the launching of these balloons continued.

The Associated Press reported that the launching of the balloons resumed last week due to Israel's refusal to ease the blockade imposed on the Strip since 2006.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said that the bombing, which included separate locations in the Gaza Strip, resulted in the injury of a pregnant woman and the child Rafif Hussein (3 years), while the Palestinian Ministry of Health said that the girl was slightly injured.

The occupation authorities say that incendiary balloons or booby traps, launched by Palestinian youths in protest against the blockade, pose a serious security threat, and balloons often cause fires in agricultural lands.

In addition to the bombing that has continued for several nights, the Netanyahu government imposed punitive measures against the Gaza Strip, including preventing fuel, reducing the area of sea fishing, and closing the Kerem Shalom crossing, through which goods pass into the Strip.

Hamas had condemned the Israeli escalation, and held the occupation responsible for its repercussions, stressing that it would not accept that the situation continues as it is.
