The Hamburg tournament (Germany) was added to the ATP calendar from September 21 to 27, the week before Roland Garros, ATP announced on Friday, also confirming that the Masters 1000 in Rome was brought forward by one. week.

According to the new ATP schedule posted on its site, the Roman clay tournament is due to start on September 14, just hours after the US Open final on the courts of Flushing Meadows.

Advancing the Foro Italico tournament, whose final is scheduled for Monday, September 21, allows the ATP to add Hamburg, also on clay, just before the Parisian Grand Slam tournament on the ocher at Porte d'Auteuil. (September 27-October 11).

The men's circuit has been at a standstill since early March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It will resume on August 22 with the Masters 1000 of Cincinnati, relocated in the New York bubble. The Masters 1000 in Madrid, initially scheduled after the US Open and before Rome, had been canceled ten days ago, allowing Rome to bring their dates forward by a week.

The sequence promises to be between the Masters 1000 of Cincinnati, the US Open, the Masters 1000 of Rome, Hamburg and Roland-Garros. Rafael Nadal, winner of 12 Roland Garros, had given up a week and a half ago to participate in the US Open because of the health situation and the "madness" of the proposed schedule.

The ATP has also specified the calendar for the end of the season in Europe, subject to changes in the health situation: the Masters 1000 at Paris-Bercy will start on November 2, while the Masters in London, which brings together the eight best players of the season, is scheduled from November 15.

The Masters Next Gen, reserved for under-21s, and initially scheduled in Milan, is canceled.
