- I do not think this is okay. It's inhuman. It makes me surprised, it makes me angry and it makes me damn disappointed, says the film festival's director Henrik JP Åkesson Ruben.

The festival management is appalled by the message from the police that it is now not possible to organize the festival on water as it was intended from the beginning. With reference to the Public Order Act and the restriction that applies, the police believe that the maximum number in the audience is 50 people.

At the same time, the festival management believes that they have previously been informed that the rules of procedure do not apply to water.

- It's wrong. This is an event where the public has access and then it is the 50-limit that applies. Obviously, this is a misconception, which is unfortunate. This is considered a public gathering, Peter Saarman explains at the police permit unit in the southern region.

600 boats in Falun

At the same time, you can see pictures from Falun who as recently as this weekend held a livestreamed concert on land, but with the audience in the water. 600 boats participated with several people on each boat. But when you in Karlskrona want to hold a film festival with a hundred boats in the water, you get no.

- In this case, it was not subject to a permit. That's what's so tricky. For a public gathering, a permit is not required unless it takes place in a public place, ie in urban areas. So for that reason, the police have not given any permission for it, because it is not required. There is a significant difference in this, because that event in Dalarna was in the middle of the countryside, says Mats Lagerblad, acting chief of police in Dalarna.

- Of course you get pissed when you see pictures from Dalarna. It feels very unfair, says the film festival's director in Karlskrona Henrik JP Åkesson Ruben.

Adjusting again

The Carl International Film Festival in Karlskrona will be held 21-26 August and now they are changing once again.

- Is it the case that five boats are registered that are already five people on each boat, then only those who are allowed to take part in that film screening. Even though I think it is absurd, we must relate to what the permit officer says.

The festival management has also appealed the police's decision to the administrative court.
