Turkish Trade Minister Rohsar Bakjan announced that her country signed very important economic and commercial understandings with Libya.

"We signed very important economic and commercial understandings with Libya," Bakjan said during a joint press conference, held in Ankara on Thursday, with the Minister of Planning in the Libyan government, Al-Jahimi, adding that the understandings pave the way for the completion of negotiations between Turkish companies and their Libyan counterparts.

She explained, according to a report broadcast by Anadolu Agency, that the understandings aim to continue incomplete Turkish projects and solve the problems faced by construction projects implemented in Libya, noting that some contracting projects implemented by Turkish companies in Libya in the recent past have stopped and were unable to collect their dues.

The Minister of Trade emphasized that they have done a comprehensive and very important work to solve the problems of projects and receivables that were left in the past, and to discuss new projects and investments in the future.

She pointed out that the signed document is a guiding document that paves the way for the completion of negotiations between Turkish companies and their Libyan counterparts to reach a solution.

"We believe that the signed document will not remain an obstacle to solving problems between Turkish companies and their Libyan counterparts," she added. "We have no doubt that the leaders of the Libyan companies will show all kinds of support and conciliatory approach with Turkish companies in order to conduct negotiations and achieve results," she added.

Bakjan stressed that the return of Turkish companies to work on the stalled and new projects will meet the needs of Libya and support stability and development in it, and will also contribute to enhancing the well-being of the Libyan people.

She stated that Turkish contracting companies have implemented more than 10 thousand projects in 127 countries in the world with a value of $ 407 billion, while the volume of Turkish projects in Libya amounted to $ 28.6 billion, stressing that Turkey and Libya are historically two brother countries.
