During the summer, attempts have been made to set up speed bumps on the roadway, but it did not work. Last year, three accidents occurred, where the person who was seriously injured had to stay in hospital for ten weeks.

the cycle path is too narrow and bi-directional and here cyclists must coexist, as well as pedestrians and moped riders. According to the Swedish Transport Administration, cyclists at the moment do not show enough consideration for meeting other cyclists on the roadway, which can be associated with great danger for them and for other cyclists.

-They cycle too fast, says Thomas Lundberg and believes that some can get up to speeds such as 70 kilometers, on a par with how fast the cars drive on the bridge.

Recurring attempts to influence cyclists have failed

Ahead of this year's summer months, the Swedish Transport Administration has tried to get cyclists to take it easy on the 900-meter-long bridge.

They started by putting out belts on the bike path to slow down, but it did not work. Small speed bumps on the road made the cyclists angry, so they had to be removed. Then special gates, or harassment, were set up to make the cyclists slow down. Nor was it appreciated.

- It ended with the cyclists lifting away all the gates, says Thomas Lundberg.

The Swedish Transport Administration: "We have no more ideas".

There are now a couple of signs posted on the bridge to get cyclists to take responsibility and slow down.

Have you given up your attempts?

- we have no more ideas right now, so we hope that cyclists over time will realize that you should be careful here, says Thomas Lundberg.
