As Poroshenko noted in an address posted on Facebook by the politician, Belarusians are traditional friends and partners of the Ukrainian people.

“Therefore, I cannot silently observe how Belarus is sliding into the abyss of chaos and political uncertainty,” Ukrainska Pravda quotes him.

According to him, the Belarusian authorities must "find an answer to the demands of the Belarusian society."

According to Poroshenko, Minsk needs to immediately stop violence against its citizens, release political prisoners and peaceful protesters and stop persecuting political opponents.

In addition, he calls for an open dialogue between the authorities and society.

“To announce the holding of early presidential elections in Belarus with the broad involvement of the OSCE / ODIHR and the Council of Europe, to invite representatives of leading international organizations and structures to observe, and certainly to promote confidence in the electoral process,” Poroshenko said.

He also called on the international community to watch "the actions of the Russian aggressor" who, according to him, is waiting for a convenient moment to "put an end to the Belarusian statehood and independence."

Earlier, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry condemned the violence in Belarus and called for dialogue.
