The future of Blaise Matuidi in suspense: the French world champion on Wednesday terminated his contract with Juventus Turin by mutual agreement and the press sends him to the United States, an explosive choice that questions less than a year of the Euro.

"Blaisou" said "Ciao". After three seasons in Italy as a handyman of the midfielder of the club multiple national champion, Matuidi, 33, finds himself free to sign where he wishes.

The former Parisian still had a year of contract with Juve, who has just appointed ex-Squadra star Azzura Andrea Pirlo as coach. But his club announced on Wednesday a "consensual" agreement for the "breach of the player's contract", which several media announced as undesirable in the eyes of the new coach of the Old Lady.

"To have been a member of the Juventus family is a dream come true, an honor. I have discovered an incredible institution, teammates who have become more than that. I will always remain your number 1 fan, or rather number 14," said reacted the player on Twitter in reference to his jersey number, a message published in the caption of a video summarizing his best moments at the Bianconeri.

The future destination of the world champion seems certain, according to the Italian and French press: it is Inter ... Miami, the club owned by the former English superstar David Beckham, playing in the modest North Championship -american (MLS). The two men know each other well: Matuidi played with Beckham in the PSG jersey in 2013.

- What future for the Blues? -

At Juve, "Blaisou" won in midfield and on the left flank, where he was particularly appreciated for his ability to defensively compensate for the multiple offensive runs of superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

He has appeared 133 times under the colors of Juve in all competitions since his arrival, a total that only one player, the Argentinian Paulo Dybala (134 matches), exceeds in these three seasons on the Turin side, noted the club.

Matuidi won five titles under the jersey of "Old Lady": three championships, a National Cup and an Italian Supercup. But not the Champions League, which the leaders dream of since the arrival of Ronaldo in 2018.

In recent weeks, he has occupied the substitutes' bench a little more often, notably barred by his compatriot Adrien Rabiot, as during the elimination in the knockout stages of the Champions League against Lyon last week. In his last year with the Turinese, he will also have become one of the first professional players to be affected by Covid-19, without however feeling any symptoms.

If his departure for the United States and a second-zone championship were to be confirmed, his choice will not fail to question for Euro-2020, postponed to June 2021, which he hopes to play with the Blues of Didier Deschamps.

But the French coach has, since the coronation in Russia in 2018, always maintained great confidence in his eleven-type, and even more in his executives of which Matuidi is part.

For example, he continued to select midfielder Steven Nzonzi despite his departure for Galatasaray, and striker Olivier Giroud remained indisputable despite his almost total absence of playing time with Chelsea last fall.
