The wearing of the muzzle has become mandatory in public places, starting yesterday, throughout the Brussels region to limit the spread of the new Corona virus, according to what the government of the Belgian Capital Region announced.

Muzzle wear has been mandatory since July 11 in most closed public places for all persons over the age of 12.

The generalization of imposing muzzles in 19 municipalities in the region came due to the increase in the number of injuries to more than 50 per day per 100,000 people (more than 600 new injuries per day in this region, which has a population of about 1.2 million), according to the government statement.

The statement indicated that the infection rate in Brussels yesterday reached an average of 50 cases of (Covid-19) epidemic per 100,000 people during the past seven days.

The government added, "Therefore, wearing a mask that covers the nose and mouth has become mandatory for anyone aged 12 years and over in public places and in private places that people may go to throughout the Brussels-Capital Region."

This will not be imposed for the time being on the regions of the other two provinces of Belgium, Dutch-speaking Flandre (north) and French-speaking Wallonia (south).

Adherence to a mask that covers the nose and mouth for anyone 12 years and over.
