The Spanish club Valencia announced on Tuesday the discovery of two positive cases of Covid-19 among its members, without however revealing the identity of the people concerned, while Espanyol and Mallorca, two relegated, each communicated a case later. positive.

"The PCR and blood tests carried out on Monday on the first team, the technical staff and among the direct entourage, in view of the preseason work, revealed two positive cases for Covid-19", announced the Valence FC in a press release.

"Those who tested positive will remain in isolation at home, in accordance with La Liga and club protocols. Health authorities were immediately informed of their status," said the elite club which began its preseason work under the management of new coach Javi Gracia, appointed two weeks ago after Albert Celades sacked in June.

According to the protocol imposed by La Liga in view of the 2020/21 season which is due to start on September 12, the three clubs will have to set up individual training sessions and carry out new tests among their members.

The new cases come two days after Atlético Madrid announced the coronavirus contamination of its Argentine striker Angel Correa and Croatian defender Sime Vrsaljko, deprived of the trip to Lisbon on Tuesday for the Final 8 of the Champions League.

Atlético then retested the whole team and no new cases were revealed.
