Dubai Municipality reported that the percentage of food establishments' compliance with measures to combat the emerging "Corona" virus increased to 99%, after it was 93%, during the partial opening of the economy, while 107 food establishments were closed, from May 27 to the day before yesterday.
The director of food inspection in the municipality, Sultan Al-Taher, told Al-Emarat Al-Youm that the municipality's inspectors carried out 10 thousand and 481 field visits to food establishments in Dubai during the past 75 days, and 107 food establishments were violated and closed that did not adhere to the procedures set by the authorities. Health, to reduce the spread of the "Covid-19" epidemic.
He added that the most prominent violations that were detected were failure to adhere to social distancing, wearing personal safety equipment such as masks and gloves during preparation, as well as not using approved sterilization and disinfection materials, pointing out that the decision to close the violating institution is temporary, until the cause of the violation is removed and its conditions coordinated.
Al-Taher added: “During their supervisory visits, the municipality inspectors check the daily follow-up records of the workers’ health, record sterilization and disinfection operations, in addition to ensuring that food safety requirements are applied to food during reception, preparation and storage, displaying at healthy temperatures, and applying hygiene and sterilization procedures. To prevent cross-contamination and pest control ».
He pointed out that the municipality checks all food establishments in the emirate according to their various activities, such as: restaurants, cafeterias, cafes that provide food, grocery stores, supermarkets, and bakeries, as well as inspects and monitors delivery cars, to ensure that they are sterilized, to maintain food safety measures after each order, and to change delivery workers. He said that the inspection teams in the municipality conduct routine inspection visits, visits based on consumer reports, and impose fines according to Local Ordinance No. 11 of 2003, regarding public health and community safety in the Emirate of Dubai, explaining that the fines vary according to the type of violation, and multiply with frequency.
