For Brazil, it is about showing its solidarity with the population of Beirut, while the community of Lebanese origin in Brazil is approaching 10 million, which is much more than the Lebanese population itself. And to lead the delegation, President Jair Bolsonaro chose his predecessor Michel Temer, himself the son of a Lebanese.

And yet, Jair Bolsonaro had never ceased to criticize Michel Temer in the past, due to the former president's trouble with the law: Michel Temer was certainly cleared in a corruption case, but he is still indicted in the part of six other investigations.

In order to leave Brazilian territory, Michel Temer had to ask for authorization from the courts.

But all this did not prevent the far-right president from choosing him for this mission, and counting on him to help him forge links with the traditional right in Brazil.
