On Monday, retired soldiers in the Yemeni government forces demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Saudi-Emirati coalition in the city of Aden, southern Yemen, to demand payment of their salaries that had been suspended for several months.

Angry demonstrators chanted against the Saudi-Emirati alliance, chanting, "No alliance after today."

Military retirees from the southern provinces have been camping out for six weeks in front of the coalition headquarters, to demand their 11-month overdue salaries.

Hundreds of retired military leaders and demobilized soldiers are suffering from difficult living conditions due to late salaries and high prices coinciding with the difficult economic conditions that are killing millions of Yemeni people as a result of the six-year-old war in the country.

On the other hand, 13 non-governmental human rights organizations in Yemen called on Monday, the security services to work to protect civilians in the city of Taiz, in the southwest of the country.

This came in a joint statement issued by the organizations, including: the Yemeni Coalition for Monitoring Human Rights Violations, "Siyaj to Protect Children," the Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms, and "Tamkeen".

The statement said, "Armed clashes broke out on Sunday afternoon between armed elements north of Taiz, killing 4 civilians and wounding 6 others."

The statement called on the security services in the province to "carry out their legal duties in protecting civilians, to quickly arrest the perpetrators, hand them over to justice, and to impose maximum penalties on them."
