"The consolidated detachment arrived in the area for performing special tasks, a kick-off meeting was held with the city administration, representatives of the Rosatom state corporation and the National Guard, during which the scope and nature of the work was clarified," TASS quotes a statement from the defense department.
It is specified that about 60 servicemen and 20 pieces of equipment are taking part in the work.
"Also, a reconnaissance was carried out on the ground, access roads for the work of equipment were determined," the message says.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to develop a work plan to eliminate environmental problems in Usolye-Sibirskoye.
According to him, "the burden of environmental problems" has been accumulating in Usolye-Sibirskoye "since the 30s of the last century."
