In Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, massive protesters condemning the government in connection with an explosion disaster clashed with police, killing more than 100 people in bloodshed.

Thousands of Lebanese protesters gathered at Martyrs Square in downtown Beirut to urge the regime to resign, local media reported.

Reuters reported that there were about 5,000 protesters.

Protesters shouted the slogan, "The people want the regime to fall," and some have heard signs saying'Go away, you are all murderers' aimed at the government.

Protesters threw stones at the police and some attempted to approach the parliament building.

As a result, the police fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters, resulting in a physical conflict.

Hundreds of soldiers were also deployed in downtown Beirut.

Local media reported that the Lebanese Red Cross said 109 protesters were injured during the police crackdown and 22 of them were taken to hospitals.

It is pointed out that the Beirut explosion was a manpower who neglected large-scale ammonium nitrate.

Lebanese authorities estimate that about 2,750 tons of ammonium nitrate, a flammable substance stored in port warehouses for six years, have exploded.
