Stina Blomgren has been on site in central Beirut during the afternoon and evening to watch the protests that attracted large crowds on the streets.

- The anger is as strong as the huge explosions that shook the whole city on Tuesday. Explosions that killed 300,000 homeless people, killed more than 150 people and injured more than 6,000, says Stina Blomgren.

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

The fact that Prime Minister Hassan Diab is now calling for new elections is not something that will appease the protesters.

- They want a renewal of the entire political class that ruled Lebanon for almost 30 years after the civil war. The country is one of the world's most corrupt countries and the protesters demand, among other things, an international screening of what caused these huge explosions. But they also want the president, the prime minister and the entire political class to resign.
