A citizen saved his younger brother from certain death, after the latter was bitten by a poisonous snake in the leg, while they were on their way to their home in the Ghilan district, located in the northern emirate of Ras al-Khaimah, between the cities of Rams and Shaml.

The father of the two brothers, Ali Al-Shamili, said, “The accident occurred last Monday evening, when Ahmed accompanied his 16-year-old brother Saeed to the house on foot, as Saeed felt pain in his leg as if he had been bitten by an insect. When he tried to inspect his leg to find out the cause of the pain, his brother Ahmed saw a long snake crawling quickly towards the mountainous areas near the house, and he realized that his brother had been bitten by it.

He added, "Ahmed hastened to tie his brother's leg above the knee to prevent the poison from reaching the rest of the body, and to draw blood from the wound, then he called the ambulance to take Saeed to the hospital."

He explained that the doctors overseeing his injured son's condition assured him that the first aid provided by Ahmed to his brother contributed to saving his life.
