The Raid arrived, Thursday, August 6 in the early evening, in Le Havre, in the north of France, where an armed man took hostage, in the afternoon, several people, we learned from the police.

No injuries were to be deplored and three hostages were subsequently released. The man, "alone", is entrenched in the premises of an agency of Bred in the city center "since 4:45 pm", told AFP the communication officer of the Departmental Directorate of Security public (DDSP) of Seine-Maritime. According to another police source, which specifies that the man would have a handgun, six people were initially taken hostage and a first was quickly released. 

According to the DDSP communications officer, a second person was released before the arrival of the Raid, then a third.

Heavy psychiatric history

The 34-year-old author is known to have a heavy psychiatric history, a source close to the investigation said. He is also on file with the TAJ (Criminal record processing) for kidnapping, forcible confinement and carrying a weapon.

The individual expressed his support for the Palestinian cause and wants to denounce the living conditions in the Palestinian territories, said a senior police source.
