Defense Ministers of the United States and China Security tours around the South China Sea and Taiwan August 7 6:00

US Secretary of Defense Esper spoke to the Chinese defense minister, Wei Feng, and expressed concern over the actions of Chinese troops in the waters around the South China Sea and Taiwan.

The Chinese side also urged the United States to avoid actions that could lead to unforeseen circumstances, and held back each other.

A US Department of Defense spokesman said at a press conference that Secretary of Defense Esper had a one-and-a-half-hour phone conversation with Defense Minister Wei of China on the 6th.

In this, Secretary of Defense Esper expressed concern about the actions of Chinese troops in the South China Sea and the waters around Taiwan as "compromising regional security" and called for adherence to international norms.

He also urged the Chinese side to ensure transparency in dealing with the new coronavirus.

Meanwhile, according to China State-owned Xinhua News Agency, Defense Minister Wei claimed China's position on the South China Sea and Taiwan and demanded that the United States stop the wrong behavior.

He called for avoiding actions that could lead to unforeseen circumstances and for maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The Trump administration decided to send a high-ranking ministerial official to Taiwan this month for the first time in six years amid deepening US-China confrontation, and the Chinese government strongly opposes that "it will take retaliation measures." However, it has become a form of restraining each other over security issues around Taiwan.
