Older Mildred Geraldine «Jerry» Chaplis is one of the few people in the world who have survived several serious diseases, as this 102-year-old woman, from New England in the United States, escaped the Spanish flu in 1918 when she was a child.

About a century later, she fell ill with cancer and recovered from it, as well as recovered from Corona in 2020.

She says about herself, partly deaf, and she was interviewed with the help of her daughter Julia, "I don't think I'm too old."

Julia, 68, describes her mother as "quarrelsome and difficult" and is an example of "good treasure and warrior" and is special, not just because of her age.

Old Jerry was not only conscious of her health throughout her life, but rather seemed to have an immune system like a bulletproof jacket.

She attributes this to the Spanish flu pandemic, which she contracted in 1918, according to her daughter.

Julia does not remember her mother ever being ill with a respiratory illness such as the flu or a cold, and her mother feels contempt for anyone who suffers from such diseases.

Jerry was born in Massachusetts on January 18, 1918 when the First World War was ongoing and women did not have the right to vote and 11 months after her birth i.e. in November of the same year when the war was almost over, Jerry faced her mother, father, and brother Joseph the deadly Spanish influenza pandemic, But they survived.

This pandemic killed 675,000 people in the United States alone, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Jerry went to college, graduated from her school, became a teacher, and then principal of a primary school.

She met her husband, who was in the navy during World War II. She has been a widow since 1983 and has two children.

After retiring in the 1980s, she had breast cancer, but she conquered the disease, but after a few years she had colon cancer, but she also recovered from it.

Last May, she felt a high fever and was taken to hospital and tests confirmed that she had corona fever, but she also recovered from it, which surprised many.

When asked about the secret of longevity and recovery from these diseases, she replied that she had always avoided extreme anxiety. She is fun loving and is a laughing lady.
