Manchester City announced on Tuesday the signing of Spain winger Ferran Torres (20) from Valencia for 5 years and 23 million euros.
Torres, who is an Under-21 international, played his first game for Valencia in 2017 and won the Spanish Cup two years later. Last season, he took part in 44 games.
"I am so happy to join City. Every player wants to play in an attacking team and Manchester City are one of the most attacking teams in world football," the player said in the English team's statement. .
"To have (Pep Guardiola) to ensure my development is a dream," he added.
"His qualities as a footballer are exactly what we are looking for in a winger. He is fast, direct, he knows how to create space in one movement and he is able to change meetings," commented Txiki Begiristain, director of football at Manchester City.
He is the England vice-champions' first signing this summer, although they appear to have already reached an agreement in principle with relegated Bournemouth for the transfer of Dutch international defender Nathan Ake for EUR 45m.
Ferran will in particular have the difficult task of trying to forget another Spaniard, David Silva, who left the club at the end of his contract this summer after 10 years rich in success and titles with the Sky Blue.
