04 August 2020A Covid outbreak with 97 positive cases has been identified in a Mantuan farm. Three people have mild symptoms, the rest are asymptomatic. This was announced by the Lombard Welfare Councilor Giulio Gallera. The outbreak was identified thanks to the regional tracking system, after reporting a case by a family doctor. The company has already been subjected to sanitation.

"An accurate and timely tracing and investigation work ordered by the Ats della Valpadana in implementation of the guidelines issued by the Lombardy Region allowed to identify and circumscribe a Covid outbreak with 97 positive cases in a Mantovano farm" reads the note Councilor Gallera.
"Following a report to the UOS Infectious Diseases of the Ats Valpadana - explains the commissioner - which took place in recent days, of a person with feverish symptoms by his family doctor, we have activated the procedure to subject the subject to a nose swab - pharyngeal, directly at home; the test gave a positive result. An epidemiological investigation was promptly launched to identify close contacts in the family and work environment and to identify possible sources of contagion ".

It has thus emerged that the citizen works at an establishment in the agricultural sector in Mantovano. The owner of the company and the competent doctor were then alerted to confirm information on business contacts, to deepen the aspects related to the patient's role in the production process and to organize a 'carpet' screening with nasopharyngeal swab on all workers employed in the plant.

"The ATS therefore activated the doctors on duty at the Usca of Mantua and the Infectious Disease staff - adds Gallera - to subject the 250 employees to the swab; the analysis carried out so far on 172 workers has highlighted the positivity of 96 subjects , in addition to the 'index' case that gave rise to the investigation ".

The screening will continue tomorrow morning with the intervention of the Usca doctors from the Mantua, Suzzara and Viadana offices, with the support of the Ats operators, in order to test the remaining workers at the production site.
