According to reports, the sunken ancient ship was located at a depth of 21 to 28 meters near the coast of Peristra Island. It contained approximately 3000 to 4000 amphoras, which had been used to transport wine. A fisherman discovered these amphoras in 1985, and most of them are well preserved.

According to reports, the Greek authorities also plan to open four other ancient shipwrecks to diving tourists.
