The alarm was received shortly after 5 pm. The ambulance, rescue service and police were sent to the port of Åhus.

- There were two kayaks that had ended up too far out to sea, says Johan Wendt, external commander of the rescue service Krisitianstad.

Four to hospital

When the rescue service arrived at the scene, two people were in the water and two more people in a kayak.

- One person was picked up by helicopter and three by boat, says Johan Wendt.

All have been taken to hospital. It was a major effort where the rescue service worked together with the sea rescue society and several other units.

- We were on site at 5.20 pm and remained on site for almost an hour, says Johan Wendt.

The rescue service left the scene at 18.20.

The police do not suspect any crime.
