Big fear this Monday for a mother and her two children. The latter, aged 9 and 12, were injured Monday in Orthez in the fire of a vehicle probably related to the combustion of an electronic cigarette in their mother's bag, placed in the back, said the gendarmerie of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

According to the first elements of the investigation, a large flame would have arisen from the handbag of the mother who was driving with the children seated in the back. The driver immediately stopped the car, but the two children were partially burned. The eldest, 12 years old, affected in the legs, arms and face, was hospitalized at the Bordeaux University Hospital while his 9-year-old sister, more slightly affected, was transported to Orthez hospital.

Investigators believe that the flame may have come from the overheating of the battery of the electronic cigarette, possibly due to the high heat currently affecting the Southwest.
