British Prince Harry and his wife Megan have filed a lawsuit in California against photojournalists who chase down celebrities, accusing them of taking "illegally" pictures of their son Archie.

The lawsuit, filed before the California State Supreme Court in Los Angeles County, referred to a "series of violations" of the privacy of the 14-month-old.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are filing this lawsuit to protect the privacy of their child in their home without the intrusion of photographers, and to expose and deter those seeking to profit from these unlawful acts," said a statement issued by the lawyer of the grandson of the British Queen and his wife.

The lawsuit also stated that drones and helicopters flew over the couple’s home in violation of privacy.

The lawsuit said the couple did not want "any special treatment" and only required the right to privacy in their home as guaranteed by laws in California.

Harry and Meghan Markle live in Los Angeles after they gave up their royal duties at the end of last March, and moved to live outside Britain after their differences with the media because of the extensive coverage of their private lives.
