The recovery plan for the French economy, which will be presented to the Council of Ministers on August 24, will have a monitoring committee, Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire announced on Wednesday after a working meeting with the social partners.

This committee "will meet at the technical level on a weekly basis, and at the level of union and employer officials or at the ministerial level on a monthly basis, to monitor the implementation of the recovery plan, correct what should be corrected ( ...) with the dual objective of creating jobs and relaunching French growth ", explained Mr. Le Maire.

He specified that the social partners had accepted the establishment of such a committee, which will be joined by the Minister of Labor Elisabeth Borne and that of the Ecological Transition Barbara Pompili.

The recovery plan, the broad outlines of which were unveiled last week by Prime Minister Jean Castex, includes an envelope of 40 billion euros for the development of industry and 20 billion for the ecological transition.

"The priority of priorities is employment", underlined Mr. Le Maire in the face of criticism from the CGT and FO who denounce the absence of salary measures in the project.

The Minister of the Economy recalled the bonuses for the recruitment of apprentices and the professionalization contracts, as well as the exemptions from charges for the hiring of young people.

"Before talking about wage increases, let's talk about job preservation, job defense and job creation," said Bruno le Maire, adding that "this is the top priority of the plan. relaunch ", and recalling the salary increases initiated for health personnel.

"The question of wages cannot be distinguished for me from the question of recovery", declared for her part at the end of the meeting the general secretary of Force Ouvrière Yves Veyrier.

"For the moment the stimulus plan is a lot of aid for companies (...) and not much for employment and wages, which remains a big problem," said his side the secretary general of the CGT Philippe Martinez.
