“We welcome further US measures to curb the Nord Stream-2 project promoted by Russia, the completion of which will be a serious threat to European solidarity,” the ministry added.
They added that “Ukraine, as a reliable transit partner, counts on close cooperation with the US and the EU” in order to strengthen the region’s energy security.
Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the State Department updated the recommendations under the CAATSA law and included Nord Stream 2 and the second thread of the Turkish Stream.
As the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, such a step is "the use of political pressure for the purpose of unfair competition."
According to her, the United States does not have effective instruments, except for power techniques.
