Two products do not meet the requirements and this means that Vetlanda municipality is prohibited from using one type of visor and one type of respiratory protection. It emerged after an inspection carried out by the Swedish Work Environment Authority in home health care.

- It is personal protective equipment that has been inspected, ie equipment that is there to protect the staff from infection, says Carolina Hall, area manager and responsible for home health care in the municipality in a press release.

Lacks CE marking

The visor that can no longer be used as personal protective equipment is a partially self-manufactured visor where the municipality has had visor arches donated and then assembled plastic themselves. The respirator is made in China and purchased jointly with the municipalities in the highlands. The reason why the protection may not be used is that it lacks CE marking or temporary approval by the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

- The requirements for protective equipment have changed on several occasions during the spring and it has also been difficult to obtain equipment. It is still obvious that we will use approved equipment as far as possible, says Ulrika Ribbholm, deputy head of care and nursing.

According to the municipality, no personnel should have been infected with covid-19 due to the equipment.
