A prominent leader of a motorcycle gang has been arrested in Marbella as the alleged leader of an international drug trafficking network that operated between the Costa del Sol and northern Europe and that has fallen as a result of an investigation that has resulted in at least nine more arrested. This intervention is a new blow to the criminal organizations of Nordic origin that for years have been based on the southern coast and have carried out bloody accounts adjustments.

According to what EL MUNDO has learned from sources close to the case, the Boxer operation is the result of a joint work of the National Police and the Civil Guard that started more than a year ago and has enabled various drug arrests during this time.

The investigation focused on the head of the gang, an individual of Swedish origin, considered one of the main perpetrators of a biker gang that spans the north of the continent that maintains contacts with the Hell's Angels and whose individualistic and perfectionist character he called the attention of the agents.

The final phase of the operation was carried out in early June in different parts of the Costa del Sol, such as Benalmádena and Marbella. However, it was in the Marbella town where the ringleader was arrested and a large part of the house searches were carried out. One of the most striking took place around the Marpafut high-performance soccer center, where those responsible for the case inspected a luxury home, arrested a couple and intervened vehicles.

The organization, according to the aforementioned sources, was focused on trafficking in hashish, which was usually sent to Sweden; although a small amount of synthetic drug and marijuana were also seized during the intervention. The investigations try to find out whether the arrested also illegally marketed anabolic products, since during the follow-up contacts were observed in different gyms in Marbella.

The essence of the network was transnational, which is why Europol has participated in the operation and has allowed the arrest of at least ten people of different nationalities who have been accused of drug trafficking and membership in a criminal organization.

The agents seized almost fifteen vehicles: most of them passenger cars, but also a truck. In the records, in addition, several high-end watches were located.

The main defendants in this investigation are of Swedish origin, highlighting, once again, the growing prominence on the Costa del Sol of the bands of Nordic origin. A criminal phenomenon that had its maximum exponent weeks ago with the arrest in Dubai of Amir Faten Mekky, a 23-year-old Danish man, whom the authorities linked to 19 murders, one perpetrated in Marbella and another in Estepona, and who was leading a dangerous gang that got to plant bombs against their targets.

Siege of drug traffickers

This latest operation is in addition to those carried out in recent times against drug trafficking networks that were based in municipalities on the Malaga coast. Last week the disarticulation of a dangerous gang dedicated to overturning drug traffickers was known, and they carried out a spectacular robbery at a toll on a highway in Tarragona.

The organization was especially violent, leaving "riddled" vehicles and "stray bullets" in their homes or establishments other than the assault, and 12 firearms were seized, -2 assault rifles, 1 submachine gun, 7 pistols, and 2 shotguns. ammunition and chargers, bulletproof vests, geolocation devices, endoscopic cameras.

It so happens that the leader had been on the run for a year and in 2018 he was identified by investigators when he participated in a program on drug trafficking in the Strait broadcast on television in late 2018.

Recently, the capture of 18 people - of Moroccan, French, Indian and Spanish nationalities - was also charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, illegal possession of weapons, illegal detention, vehicle theft, falsification of documents and simulation. of crime.

The investigation began in the province of Alicante, although the investigations led to Morocco, France and the Costa del Sol, specifically to the towns of Estepona and Benahavís, where the main leaders resided and who are in charge of the direct acquisition of the drug in the Alawite country.

And days later, the municipalities of Manilva (Málaga) and Jimena de la Frontera (Cádiz) became the scenes of another intervention by the security forces. There, at least nine people were detained, and the agents of the Armed Institute seized more than half a ton of hashish, 50,000 euros in cash and weapons, among other effects.

The head of the Court of Instruction number 2 of San Roque (Cádiz) decreed for two of the detainees their provisional admission to prison, while four others have also been sent to prison, although they can be bailed, and the remaining three arrested have released on charges.

Operation Richthofen, named after Manfred Von Richthofen, better known as Red Baron, the most famous fighter pilot in history, took place hours after the Interior Ministry announced the extension to Malaga of the plan to fight drug trafficking that it has scourged the drug lords of the Campo de Gibraltar.
