INTERVIEW

The son of Mireille Knoll, this Jewish octogenarian killed in 2018 by eleven knife wounds in Paris, expressed her relief Monday on Europe 1 after the return of two suspects to the assizes within the framework of a trial for "murder of vulnerable person and committed because of the religion of the victim "ordered by investigating judges. "What was important for us was the anti-Semitic character recognized by the prosecution," says Daniel Knoll. According to him, the family was "at the start (...) absolutely not sure" that this element was taken into account. "We are moving towards the truth and we sincerely hope that many French people will share with us our sadness, our emotions and our amazement at what happened to mom," he continues.

On March 23, 2018, the body of Mireille Knoll, 85 years old and suffering from Parkinson's disease, was found partially charred in her apartment in an HLM, in eastern Paris. According to the impeachment order dated July 10, two men, Yacine Mihoub, the son of a neighbor aged 30 and who had known the octogenarian since childhood, and Alex Carrimbacus, a marginal of 24 years in the psychiatric history, will therefore have to appear for this murder, aggravated by two circumstances: the fact that the old lady was a "vulnerable person" and that this act was committed "because of her religion".

Daniel Knoll also considers it "important" that the two defendants are "confronted" with the family. He hopes for a confession while believing that "relief will really come when the judge defines their sentence". "Hoping it will be maximum," he adds.

A third person sent back to the assizes

A third person, the mother of Yacine Mihoub, is also referred to the assizes for "destruction of document or object concerning a crime or an offense to obstruct the manifestation of the truth", according to this source. She is particularly suspected of having cleaned the knife that was potentially used in the crime.
