During the summer holidays, the French Biodiversity Office wants to meet holidaymakers to make them aware of the protection of nature and biodiversity. 1,900 agents will therefore be deployed in the forest, in the mountains or even in marine natural parks.

As the summer holidays have just started, the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) is launching an awareness campaign for tourists: "This summer, nature welcomes us, let's not spoil our reunion!". This public establishment created in 2019 wishes to alert and educate vacationers about the protection of nature and biodiversity. This summer, 1,900 agents in gray uniforms are therefore deployed in the forest, in the mountains or even in marine natural parks.

"We are going to live a special summer. After confinement, the need for nature is enormous and the French will not be able to travel very far. So there will be great pressure on natural environments and at the same time, it is there opportunity to meet the French and do prevention, "explained Pierre Dubreuil, Director General of the OFB, to Europe 1. He also recalled some very simple actions: do not throw your cigarette butt on the ground or even walk on marked trails. "We see that in a few decades, we lost 1.50 meters of soil because of human action and the overcrowding of sites," also noted Pierre Dubreuil.
