Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) opened his victory counter in 2020 at the Styria Grand Prix, second round of the F1 World Championship, behind closed doors on Sunday at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg (Austria).

Finnish Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes), who retains the lead in the driver classification, and Dutchman Max Vestappen (Red Bull) accompany him on the podium.

The image of the day will unfortunately remain much less glorious for the two Ferraris of the German Sebastian Vettel and the Monegasque Charles Leclerc. In the middle of turn 3, when the race had only just started, Leclerc took off on a vibrator while trying to overtake his teammate from the outside, from whom he came to tear off the rear wing.

Conclusion: two withdrawals before we can even talk about the start of the race. A shipwreck.

A week after missing the return of the championship, only 4th, Hamilton set the record straight, in his quest for a 7th world drivers' title which would make him equal to the German Michael Schumacher in the history of F1.

The Spanish Carlos Sainz (McLaren), 9th at the finish, also pocketed the point for the best lap in the race.

The next meeting will take place next weekend in Hungary.
