According to the politician, the situation is “worrying about the import of scientific literature into Ukraine”.

“According to statements by representatives of the publishing market, in 2020 not a single copy of books was imported into Russia from Russia, which has been and remains the main supplier of specialized scientific publications for Ukrainian consumers in many key areas of knowledge,” the press service quoted him as saying.

Medvedchuk noted that, according to statements by representatives of publishing circles, the issuance of licenses for the import of books from the Russian Federation has been stopped since the end of last year.

“Thus, the flow of special literature to Ukraine, which is not published in our country due to the crisis in the scientific and educational sphere, is blocked,” he stressed.

Medvedchuk called for an immediate “release of the import of book production into Ukraine”, primarily scientific literature.

In September 2019, the State Committee on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine announced that the Ukrainian side had not allowed importing almost 2 thousand books from Russia since the beginning of the year.
