“We abstained in the vote on the resolution on the extension of the cross-border mechanism for the supply of humanitarian aid to Syria, since we are disappointed with the way the authors of the resolution carried out the process of coordinating it,” TASS quoted Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's first deputy representative to the UN.

He noted that Russia immediately proposed to leave open one, the most important checkpoint, while the sponsors of the resolution advocated two points.

Earlier, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution that prolongs the work of one checkpoint on the Syrian-Turkish border for a year to deliver humanitarian aid to Syria.
