On July 11, the Prime Minister of Singapore and Secretary General of the People’s Action Party Li Xianlong said after the election results were announced that the election results were not as expected, but they still demonstrated the confidence and trust of the Singaporean people in the ruling party.

Li Xianlong thanked voters for their support when he participated in the post-election press conference, but he bluntly said that the election results were not as good as expected. He also said that the results of the election still showed that the People’s Action Party can gain wide support from the people of Singapore and the people have confidence in the Action Party. He will accept the people's commission with humility and fulfill his promise to lead Singapore out of the new coronary pneumonia crisis.

Li Xianlong conceded that the election results also showed that some Singaporeans were deeply affected by the new coronary pneumonia epidemic and were uneasy about the future; young voters wanted to see more opposition in Parliament. He called on voters who did not vote for the DAP to continue to cooperate with the government to jointly deal with the immediate crisis.

In the 13th Singapore general election, which ended on July 10, the ruling party, the People’s Action Party, won 83 of the 93 seats in Singapore’s parliament and won the election. According to data released by the Electoral Bureau, the People’s Action Party has a 61.24% vote rate, which is lower than the 69.86% at the last general election. Of the 31 electoral districts across the country, the DAP has won 28, one less than the previous general election. (Reporter Sun Muning)
