10 July 2020 Premier Giuseppe Conte participates with ministers Lamorgese, De Micheli and D'Incà in the 'general rehearsal' of the Mose in Venice, with the lifting of the 78 mobile dams designed to protect the city from the tides. Environmentalists and committees against large ships in the lagoon organized a protest. For detractors, the work, which required years of work and huge funding, would be obsolete. The MOSE should be completed by December 31, 2021.

For the event, the Lagoon was completely closed to maritime traffic. A dozen boats gathered in the water space in front of Piazza San Marco for a protest action against the MOSE. Watched on sight by police boats, the boats have flags against large ships and against what they call a useless work.

The premier and government representatives visited the "Control room" installed on the Lido's artificial island, from which you can follow the lifting and lowering operations of the sluice gates in the four 'mouths', from north to south: Lido-Treporti, Lido-San Nicolò, Malamocco and Chioggia. The test was attended by Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, ministers Lucia Lamorgese, Paola De Micheli and Federico D'Incà, Veneto President Luca Zaia and Mayor Luigi Brugnaro.
