"The Georgian side once again emphasized Georgian-Ukrainian strategic and friendly relations and expressed concern about unacceptable statements made to the Georgian authorities by an official of Ukraine," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

At the meeting, it was noted that "such actions, which are also a violation of Georgian law, cause significant damage to the relations between the two countries."

Earlier it was reported that Saakashvili in a video message to his supporters said that he did not recognize the current Georgian authorities as legal.

In May, Georgia recalled its ambassador in Kiev for consultations in connection with the appointment of Saakashvili to the post of head of the executive reform committee under the President of Ukraine.
