Four shells were discovered in the space of a few hours on the coast of Veulettes-sur-Mer (Seine-Maritime), near Fécamp. A projectile of about 25 centimeters was first found at low tide Friday, reports 76 News . The craft was in an uncrowded area of the beach. The town hall then warned the gendarmes.

The strong tide would have played a role

The next day, local authorities decided to call on demining services after the discovery of three other shells. The ammunition was about 300 meters from the beach. The two discoveries took place at sites just a few kilometers apart.

The appearance of these explosives in such a short period is questioning. The strong tide observed at the beginning of July could explain the phenomenon. Currents more violent than those which are usually recorded are likely to have exposed previously invisible shells.
