China News Service, July 7 (Xingdao Daily) reported that on July 4, about 100 card city residents met in front of Calgary City Hall to protest the brutal behavior of the police and demand fair treatment of Wang Mona (Mona Wang).

Mona Wang is a 20-year-old student at Okanagan at the University of British Columbia. Earlier this year, when she needed help on Kelowna campus due to physical and psychological trauma, she was dragged by the Royal Mounted Police Constable Lacy Browning into the hallway and stepped on her head with her foot. Later, Wang Mona also filed a lawsuit against Police Officer Browning.

At present, the Abbotsford police is investigating the matter, the police officer is now removed from his administrative duties and will face an investigation of the code of conduct.

Jing Hu, the organizer of the Chinese Association of Card City, said he felt uncomfortable. She will be studying at the University of Calgary in the fall, and she is very worried about her friends who will be studying at UBC. Moreover, she believes that this also reflects that race is a factor that will be treated differently by those in power.

She and other protesters protested the police's brutal behavior and demanded the dismissal of Browning. A petition asking police officer Browning to be fired has collected more than 350,000 signatures.

Kacheng MP Sean Chu also participated in the protest. As a former member of the Kacheng Police Department (CPS), he said that this cruel behavior should not have happened.

Many members of the Black Lives Matter movement said that when they encounter physical and mental trauma and need help, the government should send nurses or other professionals to check, not the police.
