On Monday morning, Jessica Nordkvist from Nymölla, Björn Jönsson from Gualöv and Torgils Svensson from Näsum were present at the Bromölla Municipal Hall to submit the 2006 signatures to the municipal council Eric Berntsson (SD).

- It's rebellion in Nymölla. I'm upset that we have so little in the countryside, says Jessica Nordkvist.

Called for extra municipal council meeting

Bromölla municipality is struggling with financial problems and on June 22 an extra-municipal council meeting was held where the Sweden Democrats received their savings package. Among the proposals were, among other things, to move grades 4-6 from Gualöv's school to Humleskolan, to sell Västanå collection room and to terminate the rental agreement for the leisure farm in Nymölla.

During the municipal council meeting, the Swedish Democrats and Moderates voted in favor of the savings package. The Social Democrats cast their votes. The alternative, the Liberals and the Center Party voted against the savings package. The Christian Democrats were out of place.

The proposals in the savings package have faced criticism from both political opponents and from rural residents in Bromölla municipality.

- It's bad to go down to the small villages instead of inside the "city", says Björn Jönsson from Gualöv.

"Must make uncomfortable decisions"

Municipal Councilor Eric Berntsson (SD) and his political comrades in the municipality protect the countryside, Berntsson says.

- But some things you have to make uncomfortable decisions about, unfortunately, says Eric Berntsson.

The fact that there is such great opposition to the proposals will change your perception of the questions?

- I can't answer that right now.

Will the collection of names make any difference?

- I can not answer that. We'll see how the debates and discussions go in the proxy, says Eric Berntsson (SD).

Some of the savings proposals will need to be taken up by proxy at the end of September before they are implemented.
