About one-third of Poland's territory, about a hundred cities and municipalities, has issued special declarations on how the LGBT issue should be handled by authorities. These areas are called "LGBTQ-free zones".

Andrzej Kuszyk is a local politician in the city of Pulawy, and was one of those who voted for a declaration that violates the rights of LGBT people. The declarations came in March 2019 after Warsaw's mayor said that LGBTQ people should receive more support in schools and society.

- It is basically just a declaration that does not specify any legal consequences because it would be a violation of the constitution. It is a statement aimed at people who, in the face of fighting for the interests of LGBT people, try to incorporate certain things into the justice system, says Kuszyk.
