Nantes, April 29, 2016, the ring road at the Porte d'Orvault level - Frédéric Brenon

Like what everything happens! Since this weekend, things have been moving for users of the northern ring road of Nantes. The road widening works, aiming to trace a third track between the doors of Rennes and Orvault, are being finalized. This crossing route has been open this weekend in the interior direction, two weeks after that of the exterior ring road.

“In order to allow a significant improvement in traffic conditions for users, this opening comes in anticipation of the installation of definitive directional signage planned for the end of July. In the meantime, the maximum authorized speed is limited to 70 km / h to guarantee the safety of users, ”warns the prefecture, however.

Three years of work

Launched in spring 2017, these works, aimed at better distributing traffic and facilitating the exit of motorists, had dragged on: first blocked due to a conflict between Vinci, operator of the works, and the State, manager of the ring road , the site was then delayed a bit due to the health crisis.

The northern ring road is the busiest section of the Nantes ring road: more than 100,000 vehicles per day are counted during the week and traffic jams are regular at peak times.
