At the beginning of June, 5,291 children in Värmland County lived in a family where at least one parent had debts or an ongoing debt settlement with Kronofogden. This is a decrease compared to the same time last year with 42 children. Grums has the highest proportion of children living in indebted families with 19.9 per cent, which is the second highest in the country. Hammarö has the lowest share in Värmland with 3.3 percent.

In the country as a whole, there are more than 182,000 children, which corresponds to more than one in twelve children.

Summer vacation sensitive

Summer can be a tough period for children growing up in families who are struggling with finances and where their friends' activities may cost money while they themselves cannot afford to go along.

Kronofogden and Bris work together to support children who are worried about the family's finances. Children can call Bris curators anonymously every day at the toll-free number 116 111, chat, e-mail and post on Bris forum. Adults can also get support from Bris on how to talk about these issues with their children.
