“On July 6, Ambassador Zhang Jun, Permanent Representative of China to the UN, handed over the document on joining the PRC arms trade treaty to UN Secretary General Anthony Guterres,” TASS reports.

The agreement will enter into force for China in 90 days.

In February, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya spoke about a new project aimed at strengthening the potential of Central Asian countries in countering the illicit trafficking of arms and its supply to terrorists.

In April 2019, Guterres, commenting on the U.S. decision to withdraw from the agreement, said that the Arms Trade Treaty is the only global tool aimed at improving transparency and control over international arms trafficking.
