From Boris Johnson to opposition leader Keir Starmer, the British were there this Sunday to pay tribute to the NHS. Inspired by the weekly applause that took place during the Covid-19 crisis to thank caregivers in recent months, this mobilization could become a tradition. The health service is one of the pillars of British society and is more than respected by the citizens.

The NHS has been there for us in the most difficult times this year and the caregivers are real heroes so they deserve our recognition,  " said one man. It is part of British society, the professionals who work there are great and I am very proud to live in a country with such a fantastic health service  ", continues a Londoner.

The institution was established 72 years ago to provide free care to people in the United Kingdom. Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, the British supported the NHS by hanging pictures of rainbows on their windows or preparing meals for health workers. In total more than 180 NHS workers have perished from Covid in recent months in the UK.
