04 July 2020 A photo shows him standing in a Nazi uniform. Behind him is a portrait of Hitler. He is Gabrio Vaccarin, municipal councilor of Nimis (Udine), who ended up in the storm after this image has circulated on social media in the last few hours. The deputy and coordinator of FdI for Friuli Venezia Giulia, Walter Rizzetto, disassociates himself and specifies: the councilor "is not registered
with the Brothers of Italy".

According to some sources it would be a photo taken on the occasion of a Carnival party dating back to a few years ago. "But this does not take away - observes Rizzetto, taking distances - that even at Carnival I would dress with that uniform and those symbols, which belong neither to me nor to the political movement that I represent in Friuli Venezia Giulia". Vaccarin, still remembers Rizzetto, "was elected in our list in 2016. However, we asked him to immediately remove the name of Brothers of Italy from the council group of the Municipality of Nimis. We cannot take further action because, he reiterates, is not one of our members. "

Harsh reactions from opposing sides. This "is not a goliardata", thunder the national and regional secretary of the Communist Refoundation, Maurizio Acerbo and Roberto Crirtiello, asking for his resignation: "it is a matter of apology for fascism and as such should also be prosecuted". "A real affront, a real indecency. He should immediately resign in shame," notes the national spokesman of the Italian Left, Nicola Fratoianni.

The Pd also intervenes, with the regional secretary, Cristiano Shaurli: "There are no carnivals in uniform from SS. These people are ashamed, they are not worthy of holding any institutional position". "This behavior is an insult to the memory of the territory of Nimis and to the history of our entire region," says the regional director of Open Left Fvg, Furio Honsell.

Meanwhile, as reported by the Tgr Rai of the Fvg, the investigators of the Police Headquarters of Udine have started investigations to understand if there are the details of a crime.
