The European Union is spending more than two billion euros ($ 2.3 billion) to finance research work on the vaccine, as it tries to avoid defaults in the United States or China in obtaining supplies of the Covid-19 vaccine, caused by the Corona virus.

Earlier this month, health ministers in the European Union gave the green light to the European Commission to follow up on pre-purchase agreements with drug companies, to obtain hundreds of millions of doses.
